Court searches by County are the most up-to-date criminal information available and its recommended that a county criminal search be done in all counties where an applicant has lived, worked or attended school. Criminal background searches are available for every county in the nation. This is a search of criminal records at the primary court location for that county. The report may contain both felony and misdemeanor information. The report includes the charges and disposition of each charge, file date, sentence and disposition date and identifying information of the individual. The cost and turn-around times vary by county. Florida Department of Law Enforcement has a comprehensive computerized criminal information reporting system. With over 4 million offenders and 15 million arrests it represents one of the largest files of its kind in the nation. The report shows the charges, dates of arrest and disposition of the case. Arrest information is limited to the last 7 years unless an arrest resulted in a conviction, in which case the 7 year limitation does not apply. The report is usually returned in 2-3 business days.
